Humana 2011 AHIP Testing Clarification
Per Humana’s contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Humana requires all agents to recertify each year in order to represent and enroll members in Humana’s Medicare Advantage (MA) and Prescription Drug Plans (PDP).
As in previous years, recertification will take place on-line. It includes two parts that will take approximately 4-8 hours to complete:
- AHIP Medicare Course
- Humana MarketPOINT Recertification
Agents that have never certified for Humana will need to attend a face-to-face class to represent MAPD plans. After the initial certification class, agents can recertify on-line in the proceeding years.
The AHIP course will need to be taken for all agents representing Humana - even if the agent is only representing PDP plans. You will be allowed 3 attempts to complete the AHIP recertification which requires a passing score of 90%. You will also be allowed 3 attempts to complete the Humana recertification with a passing score of 85%.

Humana Recertification Schedule
- August 16 - Launch English version of MAPD recertification with AHIP link
- September 7 - Launch PDP only recertification and Spanish version of MAPD recertification
- September 30 - Recertification must be completed - recertification site closes
- October 31 - Sales privileges terminate for any agent that did not recertify

Additional Considerations
- The AHIP certification site opened as of July 16, 2010.
- If you elect to take this annual AHIP training as a portion of Humana’s recertification directly through the AHIP site prior to August 16th, you will not receive the Humana discounted rate.
- The AHIP certification will count towards 2010 and 2011 plans and can be sent to Humana for recertification credit when the Humana recertification site opens on August 16th.
- Please note, successfully completing the AHIP training and testing does not complete your Humana recertification. You will still need to enter Humana’s recertification site on or after August 16th to complete the Humana specific portion of Recertification.
